The CMS That Satisfies Procurement

Most content platform decisions are made by the people who will use the system. Some are made by the people who have to sign off on it.

When an organisation needs certified security, contractual support obligations, role-based permissions across dozens of editors, and a vendor with the scale to still be there in five years, the shortlist gets short quickly. Contentful is usually on it.

We build Contentful implementations with modern front-ends in Next.js or Astro, engineered so the platform's governance strengths do not come at the cost of the experience your customers get.

Where Contentful Earns Its Place

Governance Built for Large Teams

Granular roles and permissions, editorial workflows with defined approval stages, scheduled publishing and full version history. When forty people across six teams touch the same content estate, the question shifts from what the CMS can do to who is allowed to do it.

The benefit: editors move quickly within boundaries defined by someone senior, rather than everybody having access to everything and hoping for the best.

Localisation That Does Not Become a Second Website

Multi-locale content is native rather than bolted on, with fallback rules, per-locale workflows and translation integrations. For organisations publishing across many markets, this is often the deciding factor, as the alternative is quietly maintaining a separate site for each region.

The benefit: one content estate serving every market, with local teams working in their own language without duplicating everything.

The Assurances Procurement Asks For

Security certifications, contractual uptime commitments, defined support paths and a vendor of substantial scale. These are not features anybody gets excited about, and they are frequently what determines whether a platform is approved at all.

The benefit: the CMS clears legal and procurement without a six-week exception process.

An Ecosystem That Assumes Complexity

Mature integrations with the systems large organisations already run, from translation services to digital asset management, analytics and personalisation, plus well-documented APIs when something bespoke is required.

The benefit: the content platform behaves as part of your estate rather than as another island to connect to.

How We Build With Contentful

Contentful holds your content. The experience your customers get is engineered separately, in Next.js, where content and interactivity carry equal weight, or Astro, where the site is content-led and speed matters most.

That separation matters more with Contentful than with most platforms. Enterprise CMS implementations have a reputation for producing slow, generic websites, and it is usually deserved. It happens when the front-end is treated as an afterthought to the content architecture rather than engineered on its own terms.

Every build is benchmarked against our Triple Win standard: measured performance, WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility and a lower carbon footprint, then monitored page by page after launch with SiteBeacon. Governance and a fast, accessible site are not a trade-off, but you do have to engineer for both deliberately.

We also handle the part that decides whether a Contentful project succeeds: the content model. Badly modelled content is the most common reason a capable CMS becomes unusable within a year, and it is the work that happens before anybody writes a line of front-end code.

An Honest Note: Contentful is Not Always The Right Answer

We build on three content platforms, and we have no interest in pushing you towards the most expensive one.

Sanity is usually our recommendation when the priority is developer flexibility, real-time collaboration and treating content as structured data across many channels. It is more adaptable and generally less expensive.

Payload CMS suits teams who want to define their content structures in code, self-host, and own the whole thing outright, with no per-seat licensing.

Contentful earns its cost when the organisation around the project demands it: governance across large editorial teams, localisation at genuine scale, and the vendor assurances that get a platform approved rather than merely liked.

If your requirements can be comfortably met by Sanity or Payload, we will tell you so on the first call, because a licence you do not need is money that should have gone into the build.
